Bit by Bit
An investigation in memory, identity and self-reflection.
We are born with something innate.
Something that makes us, Us.
How does one identify what makes us, us?
How does one identify oneself?
How do we know who we are?
How do we present to the world the way we see ourselves?
This artwork is the result of the artist’s relationship with gender dysphoria. Identifying as a genderfluid person, Gawde’s journey has pushed them to shed away societal norms and let them be who they are moment to moment. This artwork is representative of the artist’s ever-changing relationship with their dysphoria and acceptance of the self.
Search in Five Directions
A search in five directions is a piece performed in an expanding square or a series of squares, subverting the ideas of a room, a confined, close, protective, sheltered space. Performed using the relationship of the feminine with closed spaces and the many meanings the geography of the square can imply, PP negotiates the search of a fictitious fifth direction breaking the concept of a square, the four directions (here used to imply rules of movement) using phrases like 'toeing the line', 'set in a square', 'room for revolt' and 'hopping for hope’
The stay at Goa made relationships and deep conversation with few women who became her proxies, making a collection of shared histories, based on collaborations and contributions.
“I have been interviewing several women in their houses, at work - in spaces they've made, built and invested themselves.
They then made a photograph wearing the head for a day, looking at the other world they've always ignored - the mind that desires, aspires. The Project brings together, conversations, recollections and ruminations from the relationship of these two worlds as told by the women”

Unwanted to Unknown
Can I escape myself, if I remove a part of me or will it always follow me?
Nishant performs a ritual of shedding unwanted forces that govern us. The performance entails a slow transformation of self to a composition of planetary and unidentified sounds from space.
A Point of View
Taking as a point of departure the stories told by the landlord of this house, Mr. Vasco Pinho, Violeta explores the elasticity and the subjectivity of memories, in a room where the same actions happen again and again - always seeming like something else. A collaboration with Diptej Vernekar on lights and Shayne Ballentine’s soundscaping.
